What is AWS or Amazon Web Services?

Know more about Amazon Web Services (AWS)?

What is Amazon Web Services (AWS)? Everything you need to know about its services such as computing, storage, network, security and content delivery. You as individual or organization can choose specific solutions/services as you need and only pay as per what you use. This helps in low investment for infrastructure, getting faster performance, better user experience, etc. AWS is trusted globally to host small to large scale website and apps.

Since started in 2006, AWS consists of around 175 products and services including computing, storage, networking, database, analytics, application services, deployment, management, mobile, developer tools, and tools for the Internet of Things.

Essential list AWS services preferred by globally are below:

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud also known as Amazon EC2 is a web service that provides secure, resizable virtual servers i.e. compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale cloud computing easier for developers. Amazon EC2's simple web service interface allows you to obtain and configure capacity with minimal friction and access at global data centres.

Storage (AWS S3)

Amazon Simple Storage Service, also known as AWS S3 or Amazon S3. Amazon S3 service provides interface for users with a storage to make up to 5 gigabytes of data backup. Users can store, retrieve, and organize any amount of data and files in S3 bucket.

Amazon S3 offers a range of storage classes designed for different use cases. These include Amazon S3 STANDARD for general-purpose storage of frequently accessed data, Amazon S3 STANDARD_IA for long-lived, but less frequently accessed data, and S3 Glacier for long-term archive.

Amazon Elastic Block Store

Another storage provided by Amazon includes the Amazon elastic block store. The Elastic Block Store service allows users to store their persistent data in block-level storage that is highly available even when the Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is turned off. Now, it is important that you should know about the term "elastic compute cloud" to understand the concept clearly.

Database Management with Amazon Relational Database Service (AWS RDS)

Amazon Relational Database Service also known as (Amazon RDS) makes it easy to setup, manipulate, operate, and scale a relational database in the cloud. It provides cost efficient and resizable capacity while automating time-consuming administration tasks such as hardware provisioning, database setup, patching and backups.

AWS Data migration

Data migration is the process of moving data, applications or other business elements to a cloud computing environment. AWS Database Migration Service helps you migrate databases to AWS cloud quickly and securely. So with AWS Database Migration Service, you can continuously replicate your data with high availability and consolidate databases into a petabyte-scale data warehouse by streaming data to Amazon Redshift and Amazon S3.
